Immanence
An exploration of ancient techniques informed by modern design
Clay is imbued with the stories of the land it inhabits
Clay is a remarkable material, formed over countless millennia, while ceramics themselves are among humanity’s oldest artistic traditions. Across the world, every Indigenous culture has developed a rich ceramic heritage that reflects its identity, values, and relationship to place.
In my work, I explore the intersection of the ancient and the contemporary. Through form, texture, and storytelling, I investigate the ways mythology, science, and religion shape our understanding of the world. Drawing on these narratives, I create objects that connect us to our collective past while actively shaping the spaces they inhabit. By influencing the atmosphere and experience of their surroundings, these works encourage reflection on our shared histories and the enduring relationship between people, culture, and place.
Animism
The belief that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence
Simplicity births Complexity
Working with form, texture and light to create unique one off pieces that are as much a creation of their own as the maker.
Glazes are allowed to course over the ceramic bodies.
Chains rattle and move giving the pieces their own song.
Gold sparkles in the light reflecting the warmth of sun.
My process is organic experimental and deeply linked to the land and the stories it tells.
